Was walking down the park this early morning just as the sun comes up over the river,sometimes you get a lot of people most I know even the poor buggers that live in different locations within the park that a lot of kind people help out, everyone gets on it's only a small path so you get out of each other way,was watching this Lady from about 150 mts away with this black poddle with a fake gold chain around it's neck coming up the pathway,the Ladies dog was not on a leash just running around in between all the people so up runs the poddle and straight away the poddle has a go at the older one of my dogs,my dog just does not care,but the younger one who sleeps with the older one snaps at the ear of the poddle then it's on All I ask her is can you please control your dog and put her on a leash otherwise if the younger kelpie bites your dog again and he tastes the blood I'm going have real problems holding him back,then the Lady calls me a ####ing Narcissist Old Man,and ###K-you ,,i did not mind the old man part but I did not know what the quot;Narcissistquot; word is,I just walk away thinking each has quot;Karma as their Ownquot; pick up the younger dog and walked away,looked the word up when I get back home,So anyone ever been called a quot;Narcissistquot; and how did you feel

I would say she doesn't know what Narcissist means as that was the wrong choice of words in the situation In that situation I would disregard it as she is most likely the Narcissist

I walk my dogs in dog parks nearby where we don't have to have our dogs on a leash, doggy friendly park, best way to go I think

I've got an 8m extension lead, Mr Russ wouldn't ever stop running if I let him off his lead But for the most part he's so old he'd rather just walk behind me than run about these days

She has the dog off the lead and she calls you a name that's a bit rich I don't like it when people have their dogs off lead only to exclaim that they are very friendly dogs I have a huge German Shepherd and another dog I always have them on the lead I have had dogs off lead come up to my dogs and attack them Narcissists are usually very convivial and charming On the downside, they use people, they have no ability to empathise, are extremely calculating, figure out people's weaknesses quickly and then jump in for the kill (not literally) They seem to have 'bits' missing ie no empathy Can be men or women, but are usually men On a scale, it goes: narcissist, sociopath and then psychopath Where a sociopath or a psychopath might get pleasure from seeing their victims suffer, narcissists just don't care Narcissists won't hurt you because they enjoy seeing you hurt; they hurt you because you are just a means to an end I think they are called 'emotional vampires' I am sure we have all known one or two in our lives

When I take my three staffys (nina, pinta and santa maria) for a walk in the park, all the other people grab their dogs and head for their cars lol Leashes are for woosies, although it does take a while to collect my moochies from the backyards What was that about narcissist

This is funny, because it is not the breed of the dog that is the problem, but the way the dog is raised My friends and I had a barbie along the Yarra River one time and the group next to us had two staffys with them They were far and away two of the friendliest dogs I have ever met Far more likely to lick you to death than biteStaffies are part of the pit bull family and look similar to some of their 'problematic' cousins so some people see them and think 'uh oh, dangerous dog' but they're generally total softies I've known quite a few staffies are they've all been super friendly and eager to lick you to bits They've all been really gentle with kids too I knew one staffy who spent a lot of time around a cat so thought she was a cat, she'd want to sit on your lap and be petted like a cat I, being a crazy cat lady, accommodated her The only criticism I have of staffies is that they are prone to being needy the point of neurosis and can be heartbreakers, trembling or gnawing at their skin when left alone They have the saddest puppy dog eyes With some of the other more 'problematic' dogs, how they were raised definitely plays a big part Some breeds were bred for bloodsports for centuries so it is in their blood but the bigger problem seems to be they disproportionally appeal to people who want a threatening dog for either protection or just to prove how tough they are These people aren't always the most responsible dog owners Their idea of obedience training is smiling proudly when their dog has a barking fit at a frightened passerby There are also negligent breeders who'll intentionally breed dogs showing signs of aggression I try to avoid rottweilers, though I don't doubt that they can make great dogs, simply because I've met too many who were raised by jerky owners who want a viscous, threatening dog The owners are the same sort of people who speed up when they see a pedestrian crossing the road to make the poor sap run (yeah, people actually do this!)

Totally with you on this one We share the oval with children soccer groups, so from 500 pm dogs must be on leads, that's when soccer training starts, that's fine we're long gone by then Kelpies rule you wish

Yes some psychopaths are narcissists, but not all narcissists are psychopaths Psychopathy is much more related to a complete lack of empathy Only once a person has a lack of empathy, and added machiavellianism (manipulative behaviour) do they start to resemble what people commonly consider a dangerous sociopath

You are correct not all those who meet criteria for NPD are psychopaths And not all psychopaths are narcissists Psychopathy is not in the DSM or the englsih equivalent diagnostic system (ICD, ICD-10 being the latest version) Since Hare devised his psychopathy checklist - psychopathy has become of more interest You can even go and do a quot;coursequot; to hearn how to use the Hare Psychopathy Checklist It's pretty expensive There are other's in the field who disagree with this quot;diagnosisquot; In DSM there is quot;Antisocial Personality Disorderquot; - which has some of the features of psychopathy The article you site, is not from a medical journal

Just thought I'd mention also last week there was an interview on ABC radio with a health professional (cannot recall what sort - psychologist) discussing the increase in narcissism and she definitely talked about the link between narcissism and both sociopaths and psychopaths She particularly mentioned the recent killings in Norway by Anders Behring Breivik and several other notorious similar crimes From Wikipedia Two teams of court-appointed forensic psychiatrists examined Breivik before his trial The first report diagnosed Breivik as a paranoid schizophrenic A second psychiatric evaluation was commissioned following widespread criticism of the first The second evaluation was published one week before the trial; it concluded that Breivik was not psychotic during the attacks nor during the evaluation He was instead diagnosed as having narcissistic personality disorder There is definitely some link I think she was saying sociopaths are narcissist but (what I understood from listening, and probably fairly obviously) not always necessarily the other way around

This is an area of interest for me The following are the factors which make up the psychopathy checklist Facet 1: Interpersonal Glibnesssuperficial charm Grandiose sense of self-worth Pathological lying Cunningmanipulative Facet 2: Affective Lack of remorse or guilt Emotionally shallow Callouslack of empathy Failure to accept responsibility for own actions Facet 3: Lifestyle Need for stimulationproneness to boredom Parasitic lifestyle Lack of realistic, long-term goals Impulsivity Irresponsibility Facet 4: Antisocial Poor behavioral controls Early behavioral problems Juvenile delinquency Revocation of conditional release Criminal versatility Many short-term marital relationships Promiscuous sexual behavior Many of them do overlap with the DSM for antisocial and narcissistic personality (or ICD equivalent) There's been a lot of research done in this field There are people being held indefinately in psychiatric hosptials who score VERY highly on the psychopathy checklist who have committed terrible crimes and are thought to have little ability for rehabilitation and release to the community Then again, there are some pretty functional psychopaths who may score highly in in the first 3 facets but perhaps because of intelligence and or better parenting do not score so highly on the antisocial traits You will find them in the boardroom, the parliment and even on this forum

Quite I took a stroll around the internet a few weeks ago and came across an article of 'The Top 5 Professions That Psychopaths Work In' and police officers and surgeons were both on the list Can't remember the rest TBH, I was surprised finance wasn't in the Top 5 Edit: Here we are It's Top 10, not Top 5 http:wwwforbescomsiteskellyclay20130105the-top-10-jobs-that-attract-psychopaths I think a number of those make sense I imagine seeing some of the things people in those professions see, you'd need to have some sort of disconnect to go in everyday For instance, I knew a guy that used to be a cop whose job was to monitor kiddie porn sites He ended up on disability as a result and eventually left the force I couldn't even begin to imagine what doing that kind of work must be like
