之前知道ryde市政府打算把top ryde对面那个旧的大楼和后面停车场绿地都拆了，改建成非商业用的现代化的活动中心，广场和办公楼。ryde政府雄心勃勃，我看了也觉得挺好，现在那个楼丑的不像样，那个地方利用率也很低，觉得是个好事。之后也就没有在留意这个事情，刚才忽然想起来，到政府网站一看发现项目居然被“”Heritage NSW" 叫停了...说是被一个开发商说客 The Urban Taskforce 给告了。按政府说这是开发商的阴谋。。。但是我查了下the urban taskforce， 说是一个非盈利的代表澳洲开发商的组织。水很深。有点意思。

STOP WORK ORDER TO COST RATERPAYERS
A stop work order issued on the Ryde Civic Centre redevelopment has the potential to cost ratepayers thousands of dollars a day until it is resolved.
Demolition of the Ryde Civic Centre building was due to commence on Monday after plans to build a new community and civic hub on the site were unanimously approved by the State Government’s Sydney North Planning Panel.
However, Heritage NSW issued a stop work notice on Friday after developer lobbyist The Urban Taskforce criticised the redevelopment plans.
The decision not only jeopardises the project but will also result in significant costs being incurred by Council and Ryde ratepayers.
City of Ryde Mayor, Clr Jerome Laxale, said stopping a project that was of vital importance to the local community at the behest of property developers was astounding.
“This is nothing but a land grab by developers. Why is it that developers get to dictate what happens to a site with plans that 85 per cent of our community support?” Clr Laxale said.
“We have spent more than 10 years consulting with our community to get the approvals necessary to build our new cultural hub. This political stunt by developers will only cost ratepayers and rob us of our muchneeded community facilities.
“I am willing to work with Heritage NSW night and day to find a quick resolution so that we can build this landmark piece of public infrastructure.”
