后院有颗很大的桉树，大约有25-30米高了。之前几年没想着砍，每天看看上面的鸟挺惬意。但是近一年极端天气太多，轻轻松松后院就会掉几根大腿粗的树枝。想想家里小孩跑出去实在太危险，而且这个树离房子近，附近还有bush，所以考虑想把它砍掉。
查过NSW RFS的网站，在NSW可以使用10/50 zone来决定要不要砍树，房子也在10/50适用的范围。然后又打电话问过council他们说只要10/50zone适用，他们就不管。但是因为这颗树很大，而且刚好是在10米的边沿：就是树到我deck（其实是伸出去类似于alfesco)离它最近的部分刚好是10米(+/-10厘米），但是到房屋的砖体墙面就超过了10米。问了一家砍树公司，他们说需要到房屋的主体结构，我们这个deck算不算主体结构的一部分需要重新仔细检查。
所以这样就比较尴尬：会不会我砍掉了，有人举报，council跑过来查，结果无法适用10/50，然后罚款。那样我岂不是很冤。所以想看有没有用过10/50的，或者是不是需要Arborist或者类似的专家可以出具证明说是适用10/50的？这样有个证据。还是说砍树公司自己应该有这方面的判断，如果他们砍了，到时候council应该找他们，因为他们应该有专业的判断？
我们是在Kuring-gai council。

哪位能详解下10/50，我fence 外面公园里面有2棵大树，离房子不到3米， 上次还树枝掉下来砸坏屋顶。
council 说损坏自己修，然后找人来评估树的的健康情况。
也适合这个10/50 rule？

Where do I measure the 10 or 50 metres from?
The distance is from the external walls of the building. It includes permanent fixed structures such as decks, verandahs, pergolas and garages that are attached to the building. It does not include detached garages, sheds, water tanks and the like, or constructions such as paved or concreted areas.
With respect to farm sheds, external walls refer to the external walls of a farm shed or the line between two support posts in the event that the farm shed does not have a wall.
Note that exempt developments such as decks which have been constructed according to the State Environmental Planning Policy (Exempt and Complying Development Codes 2008) are excluded from the definition of external walls. This is because these structures are required to be made of non-combustible material.
In addition, you may only remove a tree if part of a trunk of the tree (at a height of 1.3 metres above the ground) has a circumference of more than 30 centi metres within 10 metres of the external wall of the building.

树中心到房子主体10米以内可以用10/50 rules, 你这个不满足就要找council 申请砍树（原因是病了死了等，基本不可能）。
还有个方法就是如果邻居也再bush fire prune zone,而这个树离他们家房子10米内，得到他们的written content 后，也可以用10/50 rules 砍树。我们用这个方法砍掉了一个超过25米的liquidamber (Ku-ring-gai 最麻烦了，明确的告诉我们那树太高不算weed！）

建议楼主发email给council然后留council的回复做为凭证，我家也在ku-ring-gai council，10/50 zone，想砍一棵离房子三米的树，发邮件给council问是否需要申请，council有问了我们家的地址然后回复说不需要申请可以直接砍

if just a little bit over the distance, better to stump remove together so no more record. if council asked, you can show them and said within the distance.

所以我现在想法就是写封信和council确认一下，看他们怎么回复。如果他们10/50懒得管这样最方便（之前给他们打电话是这个态度）。如果他们一看gum tree要干涉一下，那么早知道比砍了再找我麻烦好。
