Select-entry state school The Mac.Robertson Girls' High, is believed to have achieved the highest median ATAR in the state with 96.8. Fourteen per cent of girls achieved an ATAR of 99 or over and 81.7% obtained an ATAR of 90. There were 16 perfect subject scores.
A phenomenal five boys from Melbourne High have received the perfect Australian Tertiary Admission Rank for the first time in the selective-entry school’s history. The school’s
335 VCE students achieved a median ATAR of 95.45 – the third highest performing cohort in the last decade. Principal Jeremy Ludowyke said three of the five perfect scorers had also received gold diplomas, which the school awards to students who excel in leadership roles and extra-curricular activities as well as academia. ‘‘They are real polymaths – good at a whole range of things,’’ Mr Ludowyke said. ‘‘This is very much a reflection of the school’s philosophy about well-roundedness. It is also an affirmation for us that families trusted that philosophy rather than pull out of music and sport. They continued with these and really achieved in these areas as well as achieving the perfect score.’’
Presbyterian Ladies’ College’s VCE class of 2012, comprising 136 students, saw one student achieve an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) of 99.90, two achieve an ATAR of 99.85 and 10 per cent of the year level achieve an ATAR of 99+, placing them in the top one per cent of the state.
Caulfield Grammar School has achieved a whopping 23 perfect subject scores (50/50) across 12 subjects. Thirty-eight per cent of graduates are in the top 10 per cent of the state and 25 per cent received 40+ study scores. The dux of the school received an ATAR of 99.90.
