初来乍到，请各位关照，本人对语言学习兴趣浓厚，常年钻研英语学习，现听说读写都可以充分自由表达，本身IT Sales 工作对英语要求极高, 研究生搞得也是计算机处理自然语言，论文国际杂志发表，自创线上口语课，有许多方法和经验与大家分享。希望互相交流，互相帮助。
这里就想先分享一下高效阅读的一些经验。
最近在一个网站看到一个问题帖，如下：
“本人现在高一，从小学习英语，词汇量有9500-10000（靠背单词）。但是只完整看完过一部英语原版书。英语在我生活中的应用不多但也不是特别少。本人很久以前学过语法，但是之后一直没有在意，因此语法不是很好。现在，当我在看英语小说/economics或者做托福/GRE阅读练习时总是觉得脑子发紧读不进去，很多情况甚至是我认识词还是理解不好。我越是一个词一个词这么去慢慢读，越是头脑发懵理解不了。于是心里很焦急，头脑发热，很快就犯困读不下去了…… 不知道是句子复杂不适应还是其他原因。因此，想问一下学长学姐：你们刚开始阅读英文文学作品时是什么感受？如果有类似的困难，你们是如何克服的呢？（是不是硬着头皮往下读就会习惯呢？）”
我给出的回答是：
Hello, 硬着头皮往下读只会很快放弃，you will burn out pretty quick, 建议转换思路和方法，让reading的过程更enjoyable. 建议读小说，而且千万不要专挑名著，因为挑名著你会遇到同样的问题（生词多, 而且情节你也不见得喜欢）。挑小说时每本先读几页，看三个指标：1， 情节，人物是不是吸引你，2，人物对话多不多 （越多越好，对话越直白越好）3，生词量（越少越好），每页有5~10个生词难免，显著10个以上就not really enjoyable 了。
要克服瞌睡精神不集中很容易，除了做到以上三点以外 （故事本身对你有吸引力，对话多与生活贴近，生词少阅读过程中困惑少），就是大声朗读你挑好的小说，没有人可以在大声朗读时睡着 ：）， 不必太在乎你的发音100% correct, 读速越快越好。这样你一举两得，不但练了阅读还捎带练了口语！
There's a lot of discount book stores around where you can pick up a good novel, I'm pretty sure you can find one easily, the one I've been using is in Sydney near Central station, they've got a pretty large collection, which is important as you must be "picky" when choosing a novel based on the above criteria.

that also works , there's a difference though, 大声读小说同时有输入(input)和输入（output）过程，看英美剧只有输入过程。学习语言两者要兼备。传统学习，教育方法只重输入，忽视输出，是一大弱点。you can't learn to swim by just watching other people swim, you must get in the water and swim. There's no getting around it.

那只是中国人在国内学英语的方法吧？在澳洲，为什么不干脆去酒吧去市场找本地人聊啊？干嘛还要傻傻地在家里读小说学英语？最好的方法就是不断使用英语。在澳洲这个最容易了。

第一句话太笼统，剩下的非常同意 ，如果能大批量有系统地去实行的话，这个方法再好不过，读小说有它独特的位置，输入输出量大，可以自己控制，长期跟踪一个你喜欢的作者，容易形成相似语言习惯，而且时不时可以停顿一下，pick up a couple new words (不要太多，一页就一个，最多两个，剩下的靠猜，多了会打乱flow，也reduce of the fun of reading)，这样时间长了，你的词汇，表达，语感，阅读，口语都有进步。去酒吧市场，每次可能人不一样，对话深度有限。而且大多数人恐怕无法每天泡酒吧。两者都做就再好不过。

这要看学习的目的是什么？外国人基本上没办法通过简单学习变成本地人。有了目的才能确定哪个途径更适合。比如说，生活用语，你读小说没用

I guess we have to agree to disagree. I've "power read" a couple hundred novels using the above mentioned method, 生活用语遍地都是。a lot of them are by local authors as well, 所以我推荐大家要选直白对话多的读，越多越好。目的是能freely express yourself, "变成本地人"不是学习目的，是心态，一念之差。

请问：专业书都读不过来，没时间再读小说了，只大量阅读专业书有用吗？

有用，对专业英语和专业交流会加强，但是general spoken English 恐怕就没有太大作用了， 不管是生活还是工作中其实general spoken English 还是占90%以上的。专业英语不过是把专业术语加上了.

LZ说的不错，大量读不同类型的小说，可以增加词汇量，就是输入的作用。之后你再聊天发现内容都丰富了。不然光聊天，没什么用。话题也差不多就那些。

reading novels is not the only way, just need to be mindful that news and novels use quite different languages, one is more formal and the other one is more colloquial.

好的，谢谢，短期内只能先看专业书了，看novel太占用时间了，以前闲的时候看了很多青少年小说，那时候很愉悦，文字比较简单，内容轻松。后来只有一点点时间看剧，到如今只有专业书籍的时间了。

兴趣很重要，enjoy这个过程，读书让你快乐，是最容易坚持的方法。
如果愉悦度一般，那就是目标，目标非常明确，动力大到愿意自己逼着自己读，也是一个方法。
其它情况就很难坚持了 ，变成自我折磨。

Totally with ya on that! Let your interests lead the way in selecting the novels, some people are interested in crime stories, some are interested in romance, others are interested in Sci-Fi, or maybe you are interested in history .... my point is everyone's got a couple personal interests, select your reading materials around those interests.
Again totally with YT on the "enjoyment" part, using the 3-point criteria when selecting your novels can make sure you will have as much fun as possible reading it and minimum negative experience.
No kids ever give up candies voluntarily because they love the taste, if you find plenty of fun and enjoyment in reading the selected novels, you will find it hard to stop.

I've read maybe 15 novels by James Patterson, all crime novels, "relentless" by Dean Koontz, "bank" by David Bledin, quite a few books from the series "skulduggery Pleasant" by Derek Landy, "King Dork" by Frank Portman,
The last book is apparently different in that it uses teen language, which is definitely something you can go for if your vocabulary is not big enough for a lot of the adult novels. This is another technique in choosing the right novels, by going for a lower reader age group, you will find the vocabulary requirement lower and the language easier to understand and relate to.
Most important thing however, is reading a few pages from that novel yourself and decide for yourself whether the novel is a good fit based on the 3-point criteria I mentioned. Sometimes I could spend hours selecting the novels by reading a few pages each because I know once I pay for it, I'm stuck with it for at least a couple weeks.

我自己的一些感受是
1.读书选文笔好，比较现代的书。读两遍，把一些好词好句摘抄下来
2. 如果遇到自己很喜欢的书，特别是文笔比较生活化，幽默风趣的，可以在下一个audible版本听一遍。这样把读变成了听，更容易把书中的语言转化为自己的
3. 广泛阅读，各种书都狩猎。我现在一个月读三四本，另外还要多听电台，时事这些。
前面同学提到的酒吧练英文确实也是一个办法，但是也有他的局限性。在书里更能接触到比较有水准的对话。酒吧里能学到更地道的俚语表达。
