这个词组我从来搞不清，原来是这个意思？我好像一直是反着来理解的。多谢啦。
感慨一下，我发现越是常见的词组成的词组，越是不容易记住或搞清楚确切含义。坛子里还有一个“AND THEN SOME”，我也是这样，反正我自己是不说的、 听别人说，听不懂就含混过去。反正大面上的意思明白了

For this, I consulted a book called "Common Errors in English Usage."
I've used this source before and it's very helpful. It was created by Paul Brians, a retired Washington State University English professor.
According to Brians, the answer to which phrase is correct depends on the message it's trying to convey.
He explains that when people talk about something that happens often, they say it occurs "ever so often."
When they speak of something that just happens occasionally, they say it takes place "every so often."
I've long been guilty of using those phrases interchangeably, so I'm glad you asked this question.
I've probably used the terms incorrectly ever so often.
