This came through in our newsletter from CCMS last week:
Did you know the Department of Human Services (DHS) will withhold 15 per cent of child care rebate (CCR) payments made to families who recieve a higher than zero rate of child care benefit (CCB) who choose to recieve a fortnightly CCR payment.
Families who are entitled to a higher than zero rate of CCB but who choose a payment option that adjusts their entitlement to the zero rate of CCB to reduce the chance of overpayment will also have 15 per cent of CCR payments withheld.
At the end of the financial year when CCB entitlement is checked with DHS, the CCR annual entitlement is calculated. Any CCR paid during the year will be deducted from that annual entitlement and any CCR amounts owing will be paid directly to the family.
When a family's account has "withholdings" applied to their CCR payments, the cap is $6375. If there is no withholdings applied the cap is $7500.
We are unable to see if you have withholdings or not, so it would be best to ring centrelink and ask them, then let us know.
I hope this helps if you are a family that is at or close to your limit. (Amount paid for CCR is located at the bottom of your statement).
