Locally Selected Class Proposal
High relies heavily on the participation of students and parents.
Most active parents at our school live locally.
Many suitable students for High live locally but for various reasons are not selected or choose not to accept offers.
The proposal to select one Year 7 class using our established local selection process (used to fill vacancies in Years 8-12) was sent to
the School Education Director, the Director of Business Services and the Minister of Education.
Essentially, the idea is that 150 year 7 students would be selected and enrol in High in the usual way and 30 additional students would
be chosen by our Selection Committee.
Preference would be given to students residing within a 5 kilometre radius of the school.
For comparison purposes applicants would be required to produce a standardised test result – SSET or ACER scholarship test – before final offers were made. Alternatively, an entrance test for applicants could be administered at High after the SSET for applicants who had not sat for the test.
The Selection Committee would be guided by a comparative cut-off score for standardised tests to preserve the ethos of the school as a provider of cutting edge gifted education.

现在的是：180名学生全部通过精英考试录取。
这个变化简单来讲就是：
150个学生，依然通过精英考试录取
另外30个名额，由学校的委员会决定是否录取。
对于这30个学生，如果住在学校附近5公里以内，将会优先考虑。

刚才 问了一下 DET 的朋友， 基本上 NG,NB,SB,SG 都是这个路子。 每个学校 割一个班级出来
当然与现在没有关系，有影响的是以后。

刚才just 初看了一下， 吧那个表明上的冠冕的文章拿去，就是华人。。。。。

但这个选择的过程不像精英考试那么透明了。
Proposal 写着： ”Students selected by local selection (50% academics, 50% co-curricular activities）“。
50%的分数由考试成绩决定，50%的分数由其他因素决定。
估计鬼佬就在那说不清，道不明的50%的其他分数中获胜了。

从HSC 排名来说，SB 还有一定程度的下降。

这是不是说，如果你住在5公里以外，就没有机会申请了？
这和前面说的： ”Preference would be given to students residing within a 5 kilometre radius of the school. “似乎不太一致么？
一个说：”只邀请5公里以内的“
一个说：”5公里以内的优先“
自相矛盾么？

The establishment of a locally selected class would have positive benefits for students at High. The curriculum would become more balanced, particularly in stage 6. Many boys who have been chosen by local selection have taken Humanities subjects, particularly visual arts, music, drama and studies of religion, allowing classes to be formed, where previously insufficient numbers of students chose such courses. Performance drama has been revived at High in recent years due to the participation of locally selected students.

HSC成绩可能会下来一点，不过学校可能会更全面发展一点。
（另外，考虑到NSGH，NSBH，SBHS，SGHS都很有可能采取相同的措施，HSC的成绩可能也不会降。）
