澳洲大家都打算孩子多大的时候开始参与社会工作?

在澳大利亚中学教育





我觉得鼓励孩子参与community和学校的各种社会活动是中学生阶段非常重要的一课,通过giving back to community也可以锻炼孩子的社会交往能力,办事应变能力,培养自信心,为将来进入社会打基础。关键看多大开始比较合适?我女儿目前8年级,只有参与学校校报的编辑和做学校的runner,但这两项活动并不多。我在想还有什么其他渠道?比如本地community义工?另外,我是打算要让她到了senior年级出去打工,想问问大家的孩子多大出去打工的?都有些什么工作推荐?

我感觉ls说的就是work experience

可以提前体验一下自己感兴趣的职业

10年级可以去, 11,12年级如果愿意的话, 还可以再去

太片面了,快餐店打工可不轻松,让孩子知道赚钱的艰辛,让其知道珍惜,同时尊重他人劳动。磨平气质?是指贵族气吗?孩子需要社会磨练,无论任何劳动,都能让其人生更多历练,更多精彩

。 有人的地方就有斗争,哪里的工作环境没有你说的那些?社会就是个大杂烩,哪里都一样

在大多数职业中,什么样的人都会有;
或者说人总不能把自己独立在自己的工作环境中,
不可能所有的人的行为都是善意的, 或者说讲道理的。

能够知道, 并理解这个问题, 我觉得是在这个过程中学到的很重要的一课。

贵族气质?没有海景豪宅,露台上看不到Harbour bridge,周末不是坐自家船出海,假期不是全世界的跑,平常不是经常出席慈善晚宴的,就不要想什么贵族气质了吧。。。反倒很多这种人倒很低调。认识慈善机构HUMPTY DUMPTY的主席和夫人,他夫人每天一身运动装,头发永远马尾巴,大大咧咧的,毫无贵族气质。这种特平民气质的有钱人见太多了。。。说到气质,看你欣赏啥样气质了,衣来伸手,饭来张口,要啥买啥的少爷小姐气质我欣赏不来。。。我喜欢开朗,乐观,独立,自信,坚强,勇敢,礼貌,周到,有行动力,有奉献精神,肯为别人着想。。。这种气质。。。社会实践,亲自参与甚至受到点挫折,遇到点困难,我觉得都对培养这些气质有好处。

我现在准备趁学习不忙把义工这件事开展起来,谁还有好建议和方向吗?

我知道Hornsby Westfield的一家水果蔬菜超市,有几个北区私校的孩子打工,收银。不管家庭条件如何,孩子有机会磨练磨练是件好事。

Northern Beaches 的白人家庭的孩子到高年级很多都打工的,家里条件都很好。。。我女儿有白人同学现在就开始了,给邻居做baby sitter,在班上说起来大家都羡慕。。。9年级学校要搞做义工活动,每个人都要参加,好像是一个培养leadership的活动的一部分。我是想还是在自己家这边的community做义工比较好,做完回家方便(尤其冬天黑的早),对周边情况也熟悉,也更安全。

JUJU太给力了!某兔学校的座右铭就是:Academic excellence, personal best & giving back to the community....学校里的义务工作她有参与编写校报和拍照,volunteer的工作她说是9,10年级的内容,我是怕到时候会不会功课忙了。。。你的办法可行,我再让她去学校问问。同时也去我们自己的 community问问。

昨天问了某兔之前她说的9,10年级学校要搞的义工活动是什么program? 某兔说除了义工还要参加体育活动,学习音乐或跳舞,这个program叫做 Duke of Edinburgh。我们google了一下,原来是一个国际的活动,目前在全世界范围内有很多国家都参加。专为14-25岁的年轻人办的,还有Award。 150px-DofE-Logo-2008.gif

网上的介绍:The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is an international leadership in action programme, available to all young people aged between 14 and 25.

貌似这个活动最早是从英国开始的,1956年刚开始的时候只给男孩参加的。第二年女孩也可以参加。

维基解释:A pilot award scheme "for Boys" started in 1956, by Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh as its first chairman.

In February 1956 The Duke of Edinburgh's Award was first announced. It would be for boys aged 15 to 18. It was first administrated, and largely first designed, by Brigadier (later Sir) John Hunt, Baron Hunt, who had led the first successful climb of Everest in 1953. He had retired from the Army to run The Duke of Edinburgh's Award. It was designed to attract boys who had not been interested in joining one of the main British youth movements, such as The Scout Association. It was not necessary to 'join' any organisation, or wear a uniform in order to participate. In the first 12 months, 7,000 boys had enrolled for the scheme.

In November 1957 it was announced that girls may be invited to participate. On Thursday 19 June 1958 The Duke of Edinburgh's Award was extended to girls. The programme for girls was not the same as that for boys, and was for ages 14 to 20. The first girls received their Gold Awards on 3 November 1959 at Buckingham Palace. From January 1965, the Gold Award for boys and girls was made more similar, but still with minor distinct differences for different genders. (男女有别啊,不知道现在还是不是。。。1959年第一个获金奖的女孩在白金汉宫领取Award,好棒啊)

活动要求:

Anyone aged between 14 and 24 can do a DofE programme at one of three progressive levels which, when successfully completed, lead to a Bronze, Silver or Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

There are four sections at Bronze and Silver level and five at Gold.

With assistance from adult Leaders, participants select and set objectives in each of the following areas:

Volunteering:     undertaking service to individuals or the community.
Physical:            improving in an area of sport, dance or fitness activities.
Skills:                 developing practical and social skills and personal interests.
Expedition:         planning, training for and completion of an adventurous journey in the UK or abroad.

At Gold level, participants must do an additional fifth Residential section, which involves staying and working away from home doing a shared activity.

Each section must be done for a minimum period of time. It must be monitored and then assessed by someone with knowledge of the chosen activities to achieve an Award. Each progressive level demands more time and commitment from participants: Bronze 3-6 months; Silver: 6-9 months; Gold: 12 months.

怎么完成:

It will take a participant a minimum of 6 months to complete their Bronze DofE programme. Young people can start their Bronze programme when they are 14 (or slightly earlier if most of their peers are already 14). They will have to complete a 2-day, 1-night expedition. They must also undertake their chosen activities for 3 months from the other 3 sections (physical, skills and volunteering) - plus an extra 3 months from one of these sections.

It will take a participant at least 6 months to complete their Silver DofE programme if they have already achieved a Bronze Award. It will take a participant at least 12 months to complete their Silver DofE programme without a Bronze Award.

It will take a participant at least 12 months to complete their Gold DofE programme if they have already achieved a Silver Award. It will take a participant at least 18 months to complete their Gold DofE programme without a Silver Award, even if they have already achieved a Bronze Award.

Participants are required to show regular activity and commitment to the Award for the duration of their DofE programme, which is usually a minimum of at least one hour per week.

All activities for any DofE programme MUST be completed by the participant's 25th birthday.

我也觉得好,锻炼能力。简历上有这么一条,立马可以从应聘者中间脱颖而出吧。某兔说学校目前类似的program还有一个,叫做 High Resolves,培养leadership的,8,9,10年级都有这一项,已经在学了。大家对此有什么心得吗?

The High Resolves Global Citizenship and Leadership Programs together offer a three-year transformational experience for high school students in Years 8 to 10.

The foundation level Global Citizenship Program is for all Year 8 students, and is comprised of two highly interactive modules on Collective Identity and Justice.

This can then be followed by an advanced two-year Global Leadership Program for a selected group of Year 9 and 10 students. It consists of further modules on Conflict Resolution and Collective Action as well as two major student-led social action projects designed to create positive impact in both the school and wider community.

The program is delivered by specially-trained High Resolves facilitators, committed to helping students develop the mindsets, skills and confidence to become purposeful global citizens and leaders.

High Resolves is currently working with over 80 high schools across Victoria, NSW, Queensland and Tasmania and has specifically tailored strategies to support most student profiles.
