插班考试明年七月，儿子想在中国多呆一两年，他很喜欢现在的学校，同学之间非常融洽，问题是英文始终不如去澳洲进步的快，如去澳洲普通中学一段时间后再考插班考试，也不肯定能考上，（听说8－10年级空位极少），放弃国内的好学校，去澳洲上普通中学，是否不值？

谢谢D妈。所以我们纠结，北京的这所顶尖中学非常难进，班上同学藏龙卧虎，但彼此之间互助互爱，友善相处。由于学业忙加上要求的课外阅读量大（儿子一个月读了300多万字的小说），几乎没有孩子玩电脑，对于要进入青春期的孩子应该是件好事。看来还是等他考上好学校再过去，如果精英没位，不知道好的私校申请难不难。

这种学习状态是可遇不可求的。建议孩子在中国完成高中，然后也可以考虑去欧美顶尖大学，不必局限在澳洲的小格局里。

孩子在这里读书时间长，英语会更好，能学会如何在西方社会待人接物，也能建立他自己的中学同学圈。当然，LS都说了，国内的纯学习方面的水平一定会比这里高。看你要什么。

外面的传说都是要等两年, 但其实是可以争取的. 我们孩子今年九月份考的AEAS, 成绩出来给到学校, 告诉我们2014年肯定可以读, 2012年或2013都要Waiting, 但是我和他们争取了一下, 因我们的AEAS考得不错，在上海读的全市排名前五名的学校，孩子成绩在学校名列前茅等等，他们同意2012年初就录取我们。我们现在就读的国内学校好是好的，但作业量较大，几乎每天都是1030睡觉，早630起来，710到校，下午1650放学。说实在我是不想让孩子这么辛苦，还是早点出来较好。

同意13#的说法, 要是孩子的成绩很好,中学时来澳也能进入很好的私校,特别是MEL的一流女校,见过身边不少这样的例子.

我儿子是龙年的，和你的兔子作息时间一样，就是睡觉早了半小时到一小时，我也觉得太辛苦了，AEAS 要多少分才算好呢？

如果孩子能进排名不错的普通公立,也不一定会担误了前途.
例如: 2006年高考状元吴天红, 赴澳前就读于北京一所重点中学, 而且学习成绩在年级里名列前茅, 到墨尔本后读完语言学校再进入排名不错的普通中学GWSC,
后来拿全额奖学金进入墨大医学院.

如果读七年级到九年级的话, AEAS考到70分以上就不用去读语言学校了, 个人认为读语言学校是既浪费时间又浪费金钱. 不如在国内报个班,把分数拿下来, 不知道北京有没有AEAS的培训中心什么的, 建议你报个最短时间的班, 熟悉了解一下题型, 因为这个考试不象雅思什么的, 外面买不到什么书可以参考.

Years 8-12 enrolment
Applications for places in Selective Schools for Years 8-12 are advertised in the media from late June each year. Each school has its own policy in respect of filling occasional vacancies. Sydney Boys High has its own expanded Application Form. It is strongly recommended that applicants download and use a form below, or collect one from the school:
Enrolment Applications for 2012 are now closed.
Application forms for Year 8 - 12 2013 will be available from mid-June 2012.
Vacancies
In Year 8 there are historically very few vacancies. In Year 9 up to 20 additional places are offered. In Year 10 to 12, vacancies will only be filled if the number of students falls below 200.
The Application and Selection Process - Years 8 - 12
Please complete the four pages of the application form. Before doing so, please read the page six of the application form containing examples of information that might be included in support of the application. Supply a copy of your last two School Reports. Do not supply any other documents. If you are selected for interview you will be required to support your claims with appropriate evidence. Return your application, accompanied by a payment of $40 to cover administration costs, to the school by Thursday 30 July 2009.
Selection Criteria
Students selected for enrolment at SBHS are expected to support and enhance the ethos of the school in its pursuit of academic excellence, through its competition in the AAGPS and by participation in a range of co-curricular activities. The Selection Committee considers:
•the educational history of the student
•his performance in academic competitions
•whether he has siblings already enrolled in the school
•his sporting interests and accomplishments
•his co-curricular interests and abilities
•his reasons for wishing to attend SBHS

Australia has won its first gold medal in Athens. In an olympics of the mind rather than the body, held in the Greek capital last week, Sydney schoolboy Ivan Guo beat hundreds of the world's most mathematically gifted students to bring home gold. Other members of Australia's team won a silver and two bronze medals at the International Mathematics Olympiad, in which 486 students from 85 countries competed.
Ivan, who is in year 12 at Sydney Boys High, said socialising and sightseeing in the Olympic city made the event a lot of fun, despite the intense competition. "We got to meet lots of people from around the world with similar interests," he said.
In a mini-practice run for next month's big event, the Olympiad began with an opening ceremony featuring Greek culture and a parade of national teams.
The students had to sit two exams, each lasting 4 hours and consisting of three problems. To win gold, they had to get a mark of 32 or more out of a possible 42. A team trainer, Angelo di Pasquale, of the Australian Mathematics Trust, said the questions were getting harder each year.
"It's like the sports Olympics. The bar is being raised all the time," said Dr di Pasquale, who helped set and mark the exams and competed in 1990 and 1991.
Ivan, 17, who did not speak any English when he migrated here from China at age 11, said maths was his favourite subject

12月联系北悉尼的一所男子私校，按学校要求寄去儿子在北京的小学成绩, 初一的还没有。加上什么体育音乐的证书，很意外地被录取了，连面试也没有。我们本来打算2013年过去读8年级，现在被迫2012年过去读7年级，让我们纠结了好一阵。告诉儿子要马上过去读书时，他流泪了，实在是不舍四中的同学。不过偷偷地走开抹泪，不让我看见。我只能假装没看见。唉，希望他长大后能理解我们的安排。也不知道让他这时候出去是不是对的选择。

四中确实好学校，说实话，小孩子能喜欢自己的学校是很不容易的，尤其是学校的氛围很好，同学间感情很深，不过LZ既然已经为儿子做了选择 就别纠结是不是对的了 ，鱼和熊掌不能兼得，LZ儿子很懂事，一定会有出息的，其实只要小孩子快乐健康的成长父母就很开心了。
