有参加过ICAS（International Competitions and assessment for schools)考试的孩子吗？和OC班入学考试相比，题型和难易程度如何？

一般认为，如果你孩子在ICAS经常有D或者HD的，那么考入OC问题不大。
个人认为ICAS要比OC难一些。
ICAS这个竞赛在悉尼很多公立小学里，对于Year 3/4的孩子有很多老师老师是不建议参加的，大概是老师们认为太难了，会打击小孩子的自信心。
不过在NESB比例高的小学学生参加比例应该是相当高的。

难是指测试的某一subject还是所有的数学，英文，写作，拼写，科学都难？考OC中的GA，难过上述的科学吗？

我比较下来，似乎难度差不多。但是ICAS 里面的科学考试和OC里面的GA 不一样。前者重科学知识，后者重逻辑思维。我们家的也就参加了一次科学考试，新学校不组织学生考科学，写作等，只参加数学，英语。也不知道为啥。

D妈妈说的没错，ICAS里的Science我认为对于不是“从小爱科学”孩子很难，因为很多都是纯粹的知识，和OC里的GA很不一样。
OC和Selective High里的GA更像是靠智商，当然数学底子好的小朋友在OC里的GA仍然会大占便宜，因为GA里的一大半都是和数学相关的。

•Mathematics
•Science
•Computer Skills
•Writing
•Spelling
另外我看过Spelling的题目，非常难，大概语言底子好和有大量阅读的孩子才会有好成绩。
学校一般鼓励学生大部分都参加English和Maths。
不过学校会要求所有OC班的学生参加所有的项目，大概是为了学校成绩好看一些吧。
作为这个考试的好处而言，我个人认为对OC的学校评分没啥大用。

我感觉得可能差不多难吧。
拿 ICAS的Maths 来说， 一般拿不到100分就没有MEDAL了。这说明了什么呢? 就是说每次考试都有小朋友考到满分。
可是在OC Test里，从上次的经历来看，如果有5个题来不及做也许还能得个凑合的分数。。。
不过也有可能是因为OC现在Reading 的那个part越来越难了。

具体不知道。
那个地方，最有用的我想是你有一个正规的智商报告，比如140，呵呵。
我的理解，基本上Year3和Year4的日常学业表现，比如在school report上各项都是outstanding的，那么即使什么竞赛也没有，学校评分一样会很高。

School assessment scores
Schools provide school assessment scores based generally on the student's performance on the school's curriculum in Year 3 and up to June of Year 4. Schools have the discretion to set their own assessment criteria.The scores are provided for:
English out of 100
Mathematics out of 100
Test scores
Students take the Opportunity Class Placement Test and receive the following set of scores:
English out of 20
Mathematics out of 20
General ability out of 30
What do the school assessment scores mean?
The school assessment scores for English and mathematics rank all candidates from a particular school applying for opportunity class placement in order of merit showing the relative gaps between the students.
For example, a school with five candidates may provide the following school assessment scores:
Students English Mathematics
Student A 95 72
Student B 83 89
Student C 79 91
Student D 77 90
Student E 64 61
How does the selection committee use the school assessment scores?
These scores tell the selection committee how the students are performing in their own school environment, but the selection committee needs to see how that performance ranks with the performance of all other candidates in the other schools in the state.
Therefore, as part of the calculation these school assessment scores are moderated to make them meaningful across the state and to give them the same weight as the scaled test marks.
How are the school assessment scores moderated?
The mean (average) and standard deviation (spread of scores) of the English and mathematics tests are calculated for all of the students from each primary school who sat the test.
The mean and standard deviation are applied to the school assessment scores for English and mathematics.

呵呵,当时我记得还发了个帖子来问怎么填,因为根据我参加的OC的INFORMATION SESSION,那不是天才儿童简直就不需要填了
你觉得学校会不会有印象分呢?因为SCHOOL REPORT其实也没有个真正的标准不是?考OC,考SELECTIVE,到底标准是什么呢?
中学里面考HSC给分就有严格的程序了,他们有INTERNAL TEST,所以不是随便给排名的.

说明你个人OC Test考的好这是第一要紧的，第二要紧是你所在的学校所有参加OC考试的学生的整体水平。如果这两个方面不行，那么学校评分给你100分还是没用。

我以前也仔细研究过这段话,发现只是说明了他们是怎么用SCHOOL 分数的.
但是,具体SHCOOL 分数怎么给的,其实还是在学校本身.学校本身并没有用个TEST来排名.所以我才觉得会有印象分.

呵呵，我记得的。
OC嘛，exclusively for gifted kids，不是有很多人都认为智商平平孩子原本就不应该去OC的吗？
所以，智商没有140，那个地方就没啥必要填了，基本上填了，招生委员会也没兴趣看。
学校肯定是会用印象分的，但是我还是认为平时表现最重要，比如作业啦，project啦，上课参与度啦，这些在school report上会反映出来。
所谓的标准就是教学大纲，“outstanding”的grade是针对孩子的水平远远高于大纲的要求。
你去看这个贴http://www..com.au/bbs/viewthread.php?tid=224996就会明白，school assessment score很高或者很低，最终都是受 - 你自己OC考试的成绩和学校所有考生OC考试的平均水平这两个方面的约束。
所以，一般认为，如果你孩子是在一个学业普遍很好的小学里，那么即使你学校分不高（排名低），最终可能因为学校考生平均水平的好而并不吃亏。
因此，其实家长们不需要过分的纠结在这个学校评分上面。
考好最后的Test才是王。
ICAS我个人一向是认为除非你孩子是拿牌子的（第一名），否则D/HD真是没啥用。

其实这个原则同样适用于以后孩子考HSC的.
我去参加家长会,讲ATAR怎么评分的(另外汗一下,其他家长我看了签名,都是YEAR 10,11的,就我一个YEAR 7的),最后校长也是一句话(TRY THE BEST)

另外,根据那个帖子,即使孩子来自一个学业比较差的学校,如果总是学校第一,考试也发挥正常,应该不受其他孩子考试水平的影响吧.

今年，在网上填OC表的时候，没有那个地方需要填智商，竞赛成绩等东西。
是不是今年表格变了？
另外问一下朱版，OC表填的学校志愿，考好以后，可不可以换？考精英中学是可以的。

What happens if, after completing the application form, I find that I will be moving to a different area and would like to change my choices?
Changing your choice of schools must be forwarded in writing to the Unit before 13 August 2010. Change of choice after this date cannot be processed in time for selection committees to be presented with relevant information. If you have clearly demonstrable extenuating circumstances, such as the purchase of a new residence in a suburb or town very far from the previous residence, you may request a change of choice accompanied by a full explanation and supporting documents. If you wish to change your choice of schools before 13 August 2010 you should notify the Unit in writing of your request. This is the date when information is prepared for selection committees.
After 13 August 2010
Changes of choice cannot be accepted after 5.00pm on this date as they cannot be processed in time for selection committees to be presented with the relevant information.
If you have clearly demonstrable extenuating circumstances, such as the purchase of a new residence in a suburb or town very far from the previous residence, you may request a change of choice accompanied by a full explanation and supporting documents. The request for a change of choice will be subject to approval by selection committees.
Approval will not be given for a change of choice on the grounds that the student did not qualify for the original choices. Please consider your choices carefully.

你如果研究下在Application Package里对于补充信息要求，你就会知道那些竞赛啥的根本不是招生委员会考虑的重点，当然你是金牌持有者除外。
所以那个地方没有就没有好了，有的话就随便填填就行，反正他们也不会看。
Attachments
As placement is based on academic merit, generally determined by a combination of the school assessment scores and the Opportunity Class Placement Test, you are not required to include any other attachment other than those listed below:
Other supporting information (please provide only if relevant):

• achievements in the performing arts or sports
• copies of the state or national tests such as NAPLAN

Where further information is necessary the selection committee may approach the current primary school or request further information from parents.
Note: Attachments should be A4 one-sided copies. Two-sided attachments will only be scanned on one side.

今年没有了说明招生委员会要告诉大家就不要再在这个上面折腾了。
他们只对下列几种有兴趣：
- 比如你有学习障碍，阅读障碍，像老Parker得的那种，或者孩子有ADHD。。。
- IQ很高的，比如140之类的，当然要有正规的报告
- 其他异常情况:)
