It sounds like Pityriasis alba, which will clear up after a few months, or in some cases it can persist 2-3yrs. No treatment is necessary. You can apply a moisturizer like QV lotion to improve the dry appearance. If the patches are red or itchy, try DermAid cream for a few days.
