近来家人用 NSW Ambulance Service （GP叫的），今收到一收据：
总费用711
补助(subsidy)：348
需自付：363
It says that “Medicare does not cover ambulance costs". 五种情况除外

原来还以为Ambulance Service is free in Australia.
对有些朋友，这信息或许不妨知道一下。

没有买private health insurance. private health insurance from basic hospital coverage 才管用。

不，在维州，只要买最基本的extra cover,就含ambulance了，不知道新州是否不同

I was wondering as well where the subsidy is from. From the invoice, that item is simply called "subsidy". I guess it must be from Medicare.
Look at this FAQ page

On the bottom of Page 2, it reads "from 1 July 2008 residents of NSW and any other Australian state or territory that is party to a reciprocal arrangement will be charged at the rate of 51% of the actual cost of the provision of primary emergency ambulance services."
