Yes, if it's over the duty limit, even if it's for personal use. I think it's around $800 per adult and $400 per <18 year old.

出境的时候退过税吧？尤其是有过大额退税的，回来的时候被抽查的概率较高

那这么说入关的时候海关要收你税很容易喽，贵点的东西要么你澳洲买的退过税了，要么外国买了带进来，都要交税

Maybe others have more disposable income than I do but I've never bought anything overseas that is over the duty limit.
p.s. you can consolidate the limit for the entire family. e.g. if you bought a digital camera in Hong Kong for $2000 (AUD), you can apply your entire family's limit, i.e. $800x2+$400 and the item would not have exceeded the limit.
