Honda Australia has issued a new recall notice this week, expanding its ongoing recall of vehicles affected by the global Takata airbag scandal.
The recall, which centres on the potential for metal fragments to pass through the airbag at the moment of deployment, has affected more than 53 million vehicles worldwide.
Brands caught up in the controversy, shown to have been caused by supplier Takata, include Honda, Nissan, Toyota, BMW, Chrysler, Lexus, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz and Subaru.
This latest Honda recall, dubbed 6ZV internally, affects certain models in the 2012-14 Jazz, 2012-13 Jazz Hybrid, 2011 CR-V, 2012-13 Insight and 2012 City ranges.
The car maker’s local arm has confirmed 21,083 vehicles in Australia are affected under this latest recall, although not every single vehicle in the ranges above are among them.
To check if your vehicle is affected, have your VIN ready (usually found on a plate inside the engine bay or against the pillar of the driver’s door) and visit http://www.honda.com.au/recall.html.
