If you applied as a retiree, or you hold or held a Contributory Parent (Temporary) visa (subclass 173), or a substituted Visitor visa (subclass 600) before lodging your application, you can be in or outside Australia when we make a decision on your application.

On 24 March 2021, changes to the Migration Regulations 1994 came into effect. These allow us to grant this visa in Australia if:
the application was made before 24 March 2021, and
the applicant was in Australia on 24 March 2021, and
the visa is granted before the end of the concession period, and
the applicant is in Australia at the time the visa is granted.
