Early intervention includes health, therapy, education and support services. It supports families who have a child with a delay in development or a disability. It assists families to help their child grow and develop. Early Intervention Services will provide information, and will assist parents to arrange assessment, support and a program to help the child.
For children under school age, there are some services to go:
· Early Childhood Health Nurse
Will have information about how children develop.
· Local Family Doctor or Paediatrician
Can look at your concerns and what may be causing them.
· Local Community Health Centre
Or
· Local Early Intervention Service
May have a number of different professionals who can give you information and help you to meet your child’s need.
· Local Community Service Centre
Will have information about services that are available and may also have professionals who can help you or your child.
· Preschool teacher
Can give you very helpful information about your child’s development and about services in your area.
So, here are some contact details of Early Intervention Services in the local area.
