有个类似OC的班吧，听说去烤那个班的孩子，都是奔着去烤私校奖学金的，进了那个班，补习，没有最狠，只有更狠的。当然，不补习，基本烤不进去。

进来说句公道话， 这个班的孩子是有很多补习的，但不是每个都补的。不知道今年的情形，但是前几年没有补习考进的大把。

是G&T班。 从Y3-Y6 四年的program，课程设置的很灵活，很能开发和启发孩子。
该班的孩子厉害，更厉害的是父母，都是拼爹拼妈的，压力大呀！

该校一年一度的G&T 入门考试现正在热招中，8月23日就close。考生一年比一年增多。很受local和犹太家庭青睐，华人家庭就更不用说了。
该校的特色就在于这4个G&T班，在ICAS考试中，有超过60%的学生获得HD；在OC考试中有95%得到offer；在私校奖学金考试中，有30%得到offer。在精英中学考试中，有近100%的offer。
可以说这120名学生，积聚了全悉尼最聪慧的牛娃们。

This is much exaggerated.
Take this year's science ICAS result for example: out of 60 students (year 4 + year 6), only 17 students scored HD so that's 28%. Also there is no medal this year, but chatswood public got one though.
Most of those tried OC might get offer, yes, but only around half of the class took the test.
In my opinion, half the students in the class are talented, the top 3-5 are very talented and on par with best students from OC classes; but the other half are average and the bottom bit really poor, some of those can't score distinction or even credit in ICAS.

是吗？从newsletter来看，Y6，science ICAS 18/26, Y4, 17/30. 所以比例是高的呀。

I believe parents concentrate too much on G&T in this school, so I'd like to add some other goods and bads:
Good:
1) Teachers are generally kind and approachable. They tend to promote positive behaviours by encouraging rather than punishing. I used to live in south so there is fair bit of contrast.
2) Senior string orchestra and senior band are really good. Conductors are excellent and very professional. Won heaps of awards and medals. I remember first time I saw some senior string students practising violins in the morning in office, I was stunned by how well they played...
3) Two tennis court in school not normally seen in other public school.
4) New library with lots of books and macs.
Bad:
1) Traffic getting horrible due to new apartments rising like bamboos.
2) Canteen only open 3 days a week and run by volunteers only.
3) Uniform shop also run by volunteers and only open in certain hours and days.
4) Child care getting crowded coz too many new students and a student died of asthma just recently ): So students with illnesses better stay away...
Some other thoughts related to G&T:
1) Because the school donates most of resources into G&T, so students from other classes lack of attention from school and probably worse off than if they attend other public schools. For example, last time when there is some rare sun elipse sighting only G&T students gets seeing...
2) The wonder math tutor is very good one but she only teaches two days a week - so other 3 days' relatively easy stuff...

该校毕竟是NSW一个普通的公立小学，所以也不能有很高很特别的期望值，孩子的成就家长也功不可没。
不过，该校校长非常nice，无论是在OC还是selective的学校评分中，考生的学校分都很高。这一点比NO.1 的公小要好很多。

好厉害啊！不过这个班最后的精英考试大概平均分多少啊？250+? 260+? 因为OC也好精英也好不能单看比例，好的精英中学录取分数和差的相差的比较多。感谢分享哈。

Students are well mannered probably coz good family background. There is no bullying or other issues as i am aware of. Hopefully this answers your question.

没有绝对一说，也没有任何个人色彩，OC也好，G&T也好，精英中学也好，这都得感谢NSW教育部对精英教育的多样化，是仁者见仁智者见智，每个家庭可以根据自己孩子的特点来选择和设定目标。
本帖是由于LZ要了解该学校，我只是对所知道的信息做一些披露。对各位有用就收着，没有也没必要较真和上岗。

这几天没上网,今天看到许多家长给于的建议,收获颇多,谢谢大家! 其中关于校风的回答,是我最看重的,还有校长的回答.
至于精英班,我虽然还没到悉尼,但看了一段时间的,感觉那边的家长好像都比较拼,给孩子上各类补习班,压力山大
个人感觉家长主要的任务还是培养孩子的良好习惯,让孩子的德育得到良好的发展,至于学习,我还是倾向让孩子自己发挥,多鼓励.
来澳的目的也就是因为国内的竞争偏离了教育的本质,孩子的身心发展环境愈发不良.
一直认为:学习就像田径比赛里的马拉松,而不是100M,循序渐进,潜移默化更利于孩子的成长.
再次感谢各位家长提供的宝贵建议!希望以后还能和大家多多探讨教育的理念.
