Sorry I can't type Chinese at work. My daughter is in Kindy this year. She is only on level 2-3 for her home reader books. I thought that was OK until some of other parents told me their kids are already on level 5, or 10. One of the Chinese girl is EVEN given Year 1 books and she is on level 20!
Is my daughter behind? She loves reading all kinds of books, either Chinese or English. I don't know how does her teacher assess the level.

应该不用担心吧， 以前我们老大kindy也不怎么样的。。后来一年级后就开始跑前面了， 小孩吸收很快。
可能我们华人家庭起步不用比别人强， 但绝对后劲比别人足。
reading 这东西就是天天念， 学校拿回来的home reading都要陪着她念， 一天一点， 很厉害的，
我家老二现在也是kindy. 她们班上只按颜色分， 具体什么level我还没找老师了解过。
见身边很多家长都很紧张， 其实不管现在什么level, 只要坚持多读， 肯定可以超前的。。
重要不是在什么level,而是在于我们有没有坚持陪小孩念。。

Same here. My son also got level 2-3 books. But I am not worried too much because I can see he likes reading, even through he still focus more on pictures then words and sentences.
