QLD的Year 3和Year 5的学生在NAPLAN总分上名列倒数第二,Year 7和Year 9的学生名列倒数第三。
WA的州教育部长 Minister Liz Constable说,WA学生在NAPLAN成绩上有进步的项目包括:Year 3学生的Reading,Grammar & Punctuation,Year 5学生的Numeracy,还有Year 9学生的Grammar & Punctuation。

NAPLAN tests not a competition: Crean
September 10, 2010 - 5:24PM
Federal Education Minister Simon Crean doesn't want the national numeracy and literacy tests to be seen as a competition between states, but that seems to be what's happened.
The ACT topped 15 of the 20 categories in the results released on Friday, with Victorian and NSW schools sharing the other top ratings.
The Northern Territory achieved the worst results, but Mr Crean stressed the NAPLAN (National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy) tests were designed to find solutions to the education gap.
"This is a relative exercise - we don't want it to be seen as a competition between states," Mr Crean said on Friday.
"It's a mechanism which shows where improvements have been made and to challenge school communities to find out why others are doing better in a particular area with a similar demographic, and to look at what resources are needed to help bridge the gap.
"What we want to do is lift the standards, we want this to be a tool that guides and encourages informed, not just discussion, but informed solutions in how to lift the level."
NSW is crowing that the 300,000 students in years 3, 5, 7 and 9 who sat the NAPLAN tests in May topped the class across all years in spelling.
The results showed NSW students scored above the national average in all tests except Year 7 and 9 writing.
Victorian students outperformed most other Australian children even though they recorded weaker results than last year.
The tests showed that Queensland children are still among the worst performing in literacy and numeracy.
Queensland Year 3 and Year 5 students came second last, and Year 7 and 9 students came third last overall.
It was hard to find a silver lining for the Northern Territory where students performed the worst in all 20 areas.
About 28 per cent of NT grade three students failed to meet the national minimum standard in reading, compared to four per cent nationally.
And 37 per cent of grade five students did not meet minimum standards in grammar and punctuation, compared to six per cent nationally.
Numeracy skills were just as poor, where about 25 per cent of grade seven students failed to meet the national minimum standard.
NT Education Minister Chris Burns said a record $886 million had been invested to recruit more teachers and improve outcomes.
"We know there is much work to be done in the bush and we have one of the largest remote populations - that's why we are focusing on literacy and numeracy, attendance and building better schools," he said.
The SA government says while most of the 80,000 students who sat the test reached minimum standards, more work has to be done to get students achieving the highest results.
Western Australia, which finished equal sixth with Queensland overall, and ahead of last placed NT, said more work needed to be done across all years.
Education Minister Liz Constable said areas of improvement included reading, grammar and punctuation among Year 3 students, numeracy in Year 5 students, and grammar and punctuation in Year 9 students.
Mr Crean admitted that there was anecdotal evidence that some schools had kept poor performing students at home.
"We had 30 complaints in the whole of the country out of 1.1 million to 1.2 million people sitting the test," he said.
"Of course those issues are a concern, I'm not trying to dismiss them simply by the minimalism of them."

像 98 out of 100这样?

ICAS = INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS AND ASSESSMENTS FOR SCHOOLS
