The female will be much less productivity than the male as the female has to grow the berries (seeds). Plus, the male one will have much longer life than the female as the root system is stronger. I had bought four crowns from Aldi two years ago and two of them are female. In this year, each male one has produced more than 20 branches but the female one has only 4-5 branches. I bought 6 crowns from the reject shop last year and it seems to be all male. However, I could be wrong as it is hard to tell until you see the berries (seeds).
The male/female is only applying to Mary Washington. If you buy the Jersey crown, it will be all male.
