After the citizenship ceremony, is there any deadline requirement to change the passport? Currently, I am still holding Chinese passport. The cremony is next month. I am planning to hold Chinese passport as long as it does not force me to change the passport. Any advise or suggestion? Please. Thanks a lot.

澳洲不管你的中国护照的。不过入籍后中国护照理论上已经失效了。这个是从中国政府角度来看的。

即使成功了，回来时你就会遇到问题，你的pr visa已经作废了，因此不能用中国passport入境。但如果用澳洲passport入境，你的进出境记录就对不上了。进来是肯定可以的，因为你是公民，但至于要怎么折腾就不清楚了。

There is a chance that you can fly back to china using the old passport as long as the PR visa's date is still valid and the custom officers are lazy。 However you will be detained when you fly back to Australia due to missing departure rego。
So it is not worth the hassle for the measly saving。 Are you really that cheap about spending couple hundred bucks？

如果有顾忌，而你又会留在澳洲或在海外从事澳洲相关的工作，那么一直延续PR身份也没有什么问题。我有个同事做了13年PR，没问题。

i believe in most cases this is not about a few hundred bucks saving, people take all the hassles because the inconvenience of living in China as a foreigner, especially when most people once leave Australia will find very challenging to retain resident status......
following is a paragraph from the immigration website,
"Australia's Migration Act 1958 requires people who are not Australian citizens and who are unlawfully in Australia to be detained. Unless they are given legal permission to remain in Australia by being granted a visa unlawful non-citizens must be removed from Australia as soon as reasonably practicable. "
i think as long as the person is AU citizen, the immigration will give clearance of entering Australia, but there will be quite some explanation to be done at the airport
