Where are central Victorian waters?
Central Victorian waters are those that extend east of the mouth of the Aire River to the most north-western part of Arch Rock (near Cape Liptrap), including Port Phillip Bay.
These waters are defined as marine waters between longitude 143° 27' 36" and 145° 53' 35" East 38° 50' 19" South.

Other Regulations
There has been an increase to the base Legal Minimum Length (LML) for blacklip abalone from 12cm to 13cm, applying from the mouth of the Hopkins River (near Warrnambool) west to the South Australian border. This temporary regulation is part of a suite of measures aimed at providing additional protection to abalone populations recovering from the effects of Abalone Viral Ganglioneuritis.
Pocket Card
Fisheries Victoria is currently producing a free water resistant pocket card to help you understand the abalone regulations and better plan your diving activities. These will be available shortly from the DPI Customer Service Centre on 136 186.
