The problem
Due to a manufacturing fault the tether anchor bracket may fail in the event of a collision, increasing the risk of injury to the child. The anchor bracket connects the car restraint tether strap to the car anchorage bolt.
Details
IGC Dorel child car restraint anchor kits, batch numbers 022 and 023 only. The batch number is stamped on the anchor bracket.
Supplied with the following child car restraint models:
- Black and White
- Clarity
- Custodian
- Custodian Plus
- Go Safe Grey
- Maxi-Cosi Hera
- Mother's Choice
- Safety 1st Sentinel
And the following child car restraint anchor kits:
- Mother's Choice
- Safety 1st
Sold through Baby City, Smiths City, Farmers, Repco, Supercheap Auto and independent specialty stores throughout New Zealand after March 31, 2012.
What to do
Stop using child car restraints fitted with the IGC Dorel anchor kit batch number 022 or 023. Call 0800 628 000 to order a free replacement anchor kit. The affected anchor kits should be returned to IGC Dorel and not the retailer. For more information email[email protected].
