联合国“消除女性歧视委员会”批评新西兰政府对促进本国妇女权益的项目缺乏支持。
工党妇女事务发言人苏•莫若妮表示：在提升新西兰女性地位与权益方面，工党既有雄心、又有一整套完善的计划，可是这套计划被国家党2009年给废弃了。
联合国报告中点出女性在求职、同工同酬、医疗卫生与教育方面的福祗亟待引起紧急关注，呼吁现政府要为其所做一系列影响到女性的决策负责。
约翰基的政府不了解妇女问题其实并不奇怪。因为在他们心目中妇女政策产生不了最大利益。
这份报告中还建议国家党政府重新考虑他们之前废弃“同工同酬办公室”的决策，同时也最好完成一项对性别在劳资问题集体合约中的影响的独立分析。

A United Nation report calling for an action plan for New Zealand Women reads like déja vu, says Labour’s Women’s Affairs spokesperson, Sue Moroney
The high-ranking UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) has criticised the Government for its lack of progress on initiatives that support New Zealand women.
“Labour had an ambitious and thorough plan in place for New Zealand women. It was scrapped by National in 2009,” Sue Moroney said.
“The Government has now been taken to task over decisions it has made that affect women, with the report highlighting employment, pay equity, health and education as areas in need of urgent attention.
“It’s no wonder John Key’s government is losing traction with women. Its policies don’t have their best interests at heart.
“The report’s recommendations include a rethink of National’s decision to scrap the Pay and Employment Equity Unit as well as completing an independent analysis of the gendered effects of changes to collective bargaining. “New Zealand used to lead on women’s rights, sadly we now have a Government that is taking us backwards,” Sue Moroney said.
