到底哪种培根最好吃?昨日揭晓的“New Zealand Bacon of the Year”榜单也许能够为你提供一些参考。来自基督城的Ellesmere Butchery制造的sugar-cured middle bacon最终击败了其他53款参赛制品,荣膺“年度培根”的称号。
Ellesmere Butchery的老板Chris和Sue Brown表示,自2008年这一奖项设立起,他们每年都会参赛并且入围,已经为了获得这一最高荣誉而努力多年。“两年前,我们的培根曾经在五个组别的比赛中斩获两块金牌,遗憾的是,我们没能拿到年度培根大奖。”
7月13日,他们制造的sugar-cured middle bacon在专家组别的评选上获得满分,已令他们兴奋不已。昨日,他们迎来了这一产品成功摘得“年度培根”称号的好消息。
“这种感觉实在太棒了!”Sue Brown表示,他已经在这个领域工作了23年,并且一直坚持使用“最传统的方式”制造商品,“培根本身就是一种非常传统的食物,它必须是100%纯手工打造的。”
Sue Brown称,他仍旧在使用非常传统的熏烤方式制作培根——寻找木柴,生火加热,让培根“享受”长达8小时的烟熏。
而奥克兰的Grey Lynn Butchers的Lucia Rodrigues则凭借其在消费者中的超高人气而赢得了消费者选择奖。
