You've not relicensed your vehicle?
We'll send you an overdue notice six weeks after your licence expires.
We'll then send you a warning notice six months later if you've not taken steps to relicense your vehicle.
If your vehicle is still unlicensed after 11 months we'll send you a final warning before cancelling your registration four weeks later.

When we cancel your registration
The NZTA will cancel your vehicle's registration if your vehicle must be continuously licensed and you leave it unlicensed for 12 months. If we cancel your registration you'll still have to pay any outstanding licence fees. We may refer outstanding licence fees to a debt collection agency.
If your vehicle isn't required to be continuously licensed, we'll cancel the registration after two years.

Your vehicle must be correctly registered to drive it on the road. You'll need to re-register your vehicle if you want to start using it again after cancellation of registration.

Re-registration of vehicles
[size=1.2em]Before you can re-register your vehicle you need to provide evidence that:
- your vehicle was once registered - you can use:
- old registration papers
- registration plates together with a warrant of fitness (WoF) check sheet
- registration plates and insurance policy
- you are the person legally entitled to register the vehicle.
- Your vehicle undergoes testing by an approved testing agent to verify it meets New Zealand's required standards.
- If your vehicle meets the standards, it's approved for registration and a registration application form (form MR2A) is printed.
- You then present the completed registration application form to a registration agent for processing.
- The agent processes the application, registering and licensing the vehicle so that you can legally drive it on the road. You'll receive new registration plates and licence label.
- You may only drive your vehicle on the road when it has its new registration plates, licence label, WoF or CoF label and (if applicable) road user charges licence attached.
[size=1.2em]Your vehicle will need to be towed or transported. You cannot drive your vehicle on the road until the re-registration process is complete.

谢谢！上面写如果超过12月不注册后，会取消注册，但是outstanding licence fee还是要给debt agency，好恐怖啊！如果买了新车后，家里还有旧车的话，就必须要一直为两辆车付注册吗？有没有办法对不想用的车申请停止注册呢？

可以去郵局申短期請停止的。
