Parent's Miele was the same, I put the hose into the hole and tied it in place with wire (the Miele installers just left it sitting and it got knocked out). Hasn't leaked or anything since (best part of a year now).
AFAIK you can get rubber boots that fit over those, that plus some hose clamps would seal it but the Miele installers specifically warned about anything that would allow water to feed back up the hose and into the dryer (which was on the floor) and didnt want the thing sealed.
