Exam Format
The Exam will be out of 35 marks and will have 3 sections all of which are compulsory. Questions for each discipline need to be answered on a separate question and answer booklet. The mark allocation for each discipline will be as follows:
Finance 9 marks
Statistics 13 marks
Accounting 13 marks
Learning Outcomes
This assessment measures your ability to:
• identify and think critically about, the need for business information management
• analyse and interpret data using theoretical frameworks and technical processes drawn from accounting, finance and statistics.
• apply the principles of financial accounting and analyse and interpret financial results
• understand the types of financial markets and their operations
• understanding the principles of finance and applying valuation techniques to different types of investments
• apply statistical tools and techniques to explore and analyse data
Content Covered in Exam
Finance
• time value of money- present and future values
• discounted cash flow valuation- annuities
• investment decision criteria
Statistics
• questionnaires and sampling
• descriptive statistics and pivot tables
• confidence intervals for population mean and population proportion
• correlation and regression
Accounting
• cash flow statement
• the accounting cycle
• balance day adjustments including bad and doubtful debts, and depreciation
• financial statements (Income Statement and Balance Sheet- incorporating balance day adjustments)
