新西兰About student allowance--*update with responses from studyli

Hmm. The thing is that I have heard people say that we can only get the allowance for five years. Does anyone knows if this is the truth?

为什么要关心五年以后的事情?说不定两年以后世界就不存在了

Because I rented a room, and was 18/19 when I was in Year 13.

Usually you can get the Student Allowance for a maximum of 200 weeks in total. But you may be able to get an extension in certain circumstances if you need extra time to finish your studies.

Allowance a maybe. No for the Accommodation Benefit.
If you mean living at home.
But since the house is family trust, I am not sure.

如果真拿了五年,还不出来工作,也说不太过去,难道不用养家?不做别的,就真的全职读那么那么多年的书??西西,虽然读书很好,但是也不至于读那么久啦。读到PHD?

I am just thinking ahead--just in case I fail any papers this year.
And I do intend to finish a postgrad diploma, to the very least.
I may not stay here, and it is pretty useless in HK unless you get a honor qualification.
And I have mentioned that this is already my third year of getting allowance.
Please, not saying that I want to work straight after university doesnt mean that I do not think of it. I am little offended when you said that.

I have posted the question to studylink. Here is the response:
"....Thank you for your email regarding Student Allowance.
A student usually has a lifetime maximum of 200 weeks entitlement to a Student Allowance. Once a student has used up their 200 weeks, they will cease to receive or be eligible for a Student Allowance.
Courses that do not count towards the 200 week limit include:
study at a secondary school
transition courses
...................................."
Hope this will help those who need to know.
