A car filled with rotting meat abandoned at an Auckland supermarket has finally been removed, after someone repositioned the vehicle into a spot obstructing traffic overnight.
The Honda Domani had been parked at the Point Chevalier Countdown for a month, with locals complaining it had been letting off a putrid smell.
Until now though, Auckland Transport (AT) refused to get involved because the vehicle's warrant and registration are up to date.
The car has legs of lamb and beef on the back seat, emitting a stench that could be smelled metres away.
Overnight the car was pushed into the middle of the carpark, obstructing traffic, presumably to force AT to remove it.
The car's windscreen and side window has been smashed and it has so far received six tickets, totalling $180 in fines.
AT told 3 News it tracked down the owner yesterday and has spoken to police to about the situation. It's believed the owner was not in a position to pick up the vehicle.
