I think there are already plenty of resorts/hotels/motels there, and the holiday season there mostly is winter time...so I'd rather spend that money to buy several apartment/units in Auckland and they can get rented out most time of the year, which means more stable income.
But if you do buy a holiday house there, I would like to go as a guest! haha

我每次都夏天去,每次订房都很困难。不过我都是订别人的度假屋,因为便宜嘛,住一大家子人才200多一天。可是换那个房东的立场,那个房子才四五十万,他一年差不多只要租出去100天就保本了。当然我不知道他的维护成本了。这种度假屋,有好景的,在夏天(注意啦,据我观察旺季是夏天)都是爆满的,我觉得100天是很保守的。我认为关键是维护成本,还有就是贷款的难度。
再说,我说买度假屋,那个屋子,本来也就是度假屋,换主人而已,并不增加供给。那个城市人口增加很快,流动性也很强,很多各国各地的白人年轻人,去工作几年就离开,并不买房,所以出租市场也不错的。
