A series of free online concerts by internationally-acclaimed musicians
The Mimir Chamber Music Festival proudly celebrates its 23rd anniversary season in 2020, with an exciting global reach as we take the Festival online for a rare opportunity to offer a one-of-a-kind performance experience due to the Coronavirus shutdown.
Led by Curt Thompson, Associate Professor and Head of Strings at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, the Festival is a unique chance to hear leaders of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Houston, Nashville and Pittsburgh symphonies; Grammy Award-nominated recording artists; and a beautiful performance of Beethoven's song cycle An die ferne Geliebte (To the distant beloved) from Heinz Hall in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
On opening night, we also have a special performance of Arnold Schoenberg's Nottorno for Strings and Harp introduced by the composer's son, Larry Schoenberg.
The Mimir Emerging Artists’ concert on July 10 will feature performances by three pre-formed groups, representing the Sibelius Academy (Helsinki), the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and the University of Houston Moores School of Music.
