Oriental Merchant is a leading importer and distributor of authentic Asian groceries, supplying supermarkets with brands that are familiar throughout the Asia Pacific. To keep up with the demand and our expanding business we are looking for an Sales Representative, Food service in the Asian Sales department to manage and develop the Asian Food Service channel within the Auckland region.
The successful candidate will focus on the sales related activities for Oriental Merchant (OM) products in the Asian food service channel, to achieve targeted sales growth in line with the company’s business plan. They will also be responsible for achieving profitable sales results by establishing and implementing sales activities plan and strategies, by interaction with wholesalers or key customers to generate competitive proposals directly leading to the penetration or expansion of existing business.
The Role:
The responsibilities of the Sales Representative, Food Service include but are not limited to the following:
- Attending businesses and stores in a call cycle;
- Maximizing market share, volume and revenue in Asian Food Service channel within Auckland region;
- Introducing new lines and working to increase CORE Ranging in Food Service channel;
- Ensuring Promotional Programs are successfully implemented at marketplace in driving sales volume and exceeding OM's sales and brand's objectives;
- Liaising and coordinating with Line Manager in sourcing New Product Develop for Food Service channel;
- Prospecting new customer base to improve distribution;
- Monitoring stock reports and movements on weekly basis to minimize loss of sales;
- Ensure effective budgetary control over sales expenses, returns and promotional expenses against sales target;
- Work closely with the Line Manager in Procurement and Logistics to ensure accurate product forecasting to meet sales trends, customer and supplier needs;
- Making contact with key customers or purchasing manager on all buying calls, detailing our products on offer, answering their specific requirements to ensure orders are viable and growing;
- Other tasks from time to time as required by your Manager.
To be successful you will need:
- Full New Zealand working rights;
- A valid driver's licence, a fully serviced company car will be provided;
- Mandarin speaking skills is a must due to the nature of the role;
- To be a confident driver as you will be on the road and in the field majority of the time;
- Experience and network with food service businesses;
- A minimum of 2 years relevant experience (FMCG, Sales, Food Service);
- Strong Microsoft Office skills;
- Strong written and communication skills;
- Ability to multi-task and handle pressure with superior time and resource management skills;
- Previous experience in budgetary control, monitoring of stock and forecasting is an advantage.
