The number of Auckland homeowners selling their properties for less than they paid for them has doubled over the past year.
New data from Homes.co.nz, which is based on sales information lodged with the local council, shows that 7.2 per cent of sales in the first quarter of this year have resulted in a capital loss for Auckland property owners.
That is compared to 3.1 per cent in the same period of 2018 and 1.5 per cent at the end of 2016.
But it's not only homeowners in the biggest city who are ending up out of pocket.
In Christchurch, even more people are losing money - there, 12.1 per cent of sales in the first quarter of this year resulted in the owner losing money on the deal.

One Auckland property, on East Coast Road, was bought for $2.5 million in September 2017 and sold in January for $2m.
Another, on Macleans Road, sold for $1.739m in January after changing hands for $2.15m in 2016.

Don't sell if you can hold on. It is part of the cycle.
Do up the house, add extra room, increase the rental, those are the creative ways you can add extra income to your investment. Give another 2 -3 years, the dark cloud will be over and the losers will still be the losers.

Only greedy people, who might enter the market in late 2016 or even 2017, and bought a lot & loaned a lot, are forced to sell.
Conservative and sophisticated investors are very relaxed as loan interest rate is so low now.

特豪的不知道比如大几百万上千万那种。就说2百万-250万这么个普通人认为算很不错的房子了吧。跌价的我看还是过去只有华人买的类型。洋人喜欢的跌得还是少(比如ponsonby herne bay这些地方)。主要是华人的钱国内过来的多,这一下没了来源或者不让外国人买了,很明显。洋人的区,一般都是本地收入支撑,所以不怎么明显。
