They originally exempt this development project (see below original script from the bill).
Then national party argued it is favouratism (cronyism) to Labour's friend, then they scrap it off. This project is not longer exempted. Foresee this project will die, as they are selling $4 million per housing lot to wealthy overseas people. Iwi and private developer owned's project.
The bill never allowed exemption for high end property, not before, not now.

5 Exemption for Te Arai property development
(1)
A transaction does not require consent to the extent that it will result in an overseas investment in sensitive land that is the acquisition of an interest in residential (but not otherwise sensitive) land within the Te Arai property development.
(2)
The Te Arai property development means the area comprising all of the land identified as follows:
(a)
Lots 1, 2, 3, and 4 DP 138523:
(b)
Lot 1 DP 138524:
(c)
Lots 1, 2, 3, and 4 DP 138522.
(3)
This clause ceases to apply to transactions entered into on or after the 15th anniversary of the date on which this clause commences.

这还是国家党嘛?这个豁免对于新西兰的政治经济是多么重要,他们不明白吗?不让外国人买普通房子,对大家的生活没有什么坏处可能还有好处,可是不让外国人买豪宅,这是在作死! 我太太太失望了。

Just like this bill, let it hit like a sledgehammer and see what will happen. I rather see its full effects (on what is originally intended) and see how the events will unfold.
Some examples on the effect:
1) Real estate agents industry will have a big shake up
2) Banking industry- immigration banking, housing loan and people they employed
3) immigrants related jobs - mainly property related
4) Out fow migration - to Aust and overseas.
5) More social unrest as to the nos of houses that is actually built is not increasing.
6) Developer abandoning or postponing the housing projects
7) Increasing social fragmentation- meaning society getting more divided and racial profiling / polarisation.
8) From Rock Star singer to Street Performer. The white milk gold losing its shine. Clean Green blue sticker is replaced with anti investors sentiments in overseas.
9) More beneficiaries, more business failures and business confident plumerting. The beneficiaries will still holding up for the hang outs with less and less people contributing to the beneficiaries funds.

你不能一面连住的房子都不让买, 一面让人高高兴兴来投资.人家不来投钱, 就没钱造房子了, 就没新房了. 玩球.

新西兰特别好, 好多好多钱想过来. 但是其他都好, 买房子搞得新西兰人没房住, 不好.

如果你說的富人是包括全世界平均分佈倒也不錯 可是不是 輿論針對的或者客觀上最明顯的從來就是中國大陸來的華人土豪 所以有這樣一著某些程度長遠來說對本地華人未嘗不是好事
