由于洪水和暴雨等恶劣天气继续影响，新州190多所学校今日停课。
教育部确认167所公立学校和27所非公立学校今日关闭。
新州教育部门发言人称：“我们正在评估损失程度，尤其是在Mid North Coast地区，在可能的情况下进行清理，确保学校尽快恢复正常运作。”
“但是考虑到持续的恶劣天气，可能需要几天之后才能进入灾区进行现场评估。”
两所新州学校在恶劣天气下损毁严重，将停课相当一段时间。
Telegraph Point Public School需要大范围维修，该校125名学生将在合适的情况下重新安置。
在悉尼西部，强风和暴雨迫使Chester Hill High School 关闭，校园损毁严重，到处都是碎片，大约1300名学生受到影响。现在已经开始清理工作，但是预计仍需要几天才能恢复正常的课堂学习。
有关官员称到目前为止，由于遭遇洪水，强风以及屋顶漏水，树木倒塌等原因，有50多所学校遭到严重破坏。已经在可能的情况下开始维修清理工作，以确保学校能够尽快恢复运作。
新州教育局发言人说：“我们正在评估受影响地区的所有学校。但是当地的洪水造成道路封闭限制了出入，可能需要几天时间来评估破坏程度。”
大部分受损的学校位于新州Mid North Coast地区。
教育局表示，受灾严重地区的学生可以在家中学习。
同时学校停课不影响课前课后的照顾服务。
