Need a good excuse to book another holiday?
Probably not, but nevertheless, new research has found couples who travel together have a better sex life.
The study was commissioned by US Travel Association ahead of Valentine’s Day. Edge Research conducted a random phone survey of 1100 adults and found 77 percent of respondents who travel with their partner say they have a good sex life.
Of couples who do not travel together, 63 percent said they were satisfied with their sex life.
"Couples who take time to holiday alone together at least once each year report happier, healthier relationships overall compared to those who do not travel as couples," Edge Research principal Pam Loeb says.
More than eight in 10 of those who travel as a couple say the romance is still alive in their relationship, and one in four couples say their sex life improved after travelling together.
Of respondents who had not taken a trip with their other half in the past year, one in four said they lacked time for intimacy and sex.
US Travel Association president says the survey findings prove “what we’ve long known anecdotally”.
“Couples who travel together have healthier, happier relationships compared to those who do not travel together.”
